CNC Press Brake Operations To Form A Sheet Metal Box

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) press brake operations are somewhat different to most other CNC operations. Whilst the process uses a control system to guide and perform individual forming operations an operator is required to handle the work piece to position it for each stroke. Typically a CNC machine can handle a series of operations to complete a job without user intervention such as operations performed with CNC lathes and mills.

This video shows a CNC press brake being utilised to form a box from a blank. Take note of the back gauges (guides) movements behind the die. The operator uses the back gauges to position the work piece for each forming operation.
